The role of a Corporate Banking Analyst:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented banking analyst to join our Corporate Banking team at Zions Bank Head Office in downtown Salt Lake City. We manage some of the largest and most visible relationships in the bank (and the State of Utah), so attention to detail, integrity, quick thinking, professionalism, the ability to effectively communicate, and a willingness and capacity to learn are critical to the role.

You will be a key member of our team and provided with hands on and ongoing training and given numerous responsibilities that will help you become a professional banker with significant growth potential within our organization. Due to the skill sets acquired in the role, and the visibility of the position that exposes you to multiple areas and levels of our organization, great Corporate Banking Analysts have many careers paths within our bank.

Successful Corporate Banking Analysts typically have an interest in accounting, economics, and reading. They have been told they are good writers, well organized, can prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail, and have a general curiosity and interest in business, the community, and the world. A successful analyst will be expected to know how to work on a team, learn quickly from mistakes, and can internalize a sense of urgency to meet team and/or customer deadlines.


Ideal candidates will have these skills and experience:

  • Responsible for analyzing, interpreting, investigating, gathering and presenting of financial data, including tax information and credit documentation to determine a clients credit worthiness for corporate banking customers.
  • Reviews and initiates the creation of loan documents for legal and structural considerations, to ensure they are in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Makes calls on clients to better underwrite credits. Consults with relationship managers and makes recommendations for credits and loan presentations.
  • Assists with basic and mid-sized loans; provides customer service on behalf of loan officers/relationship managers and team leaders.
  • Serves as backup relationship manager as required.
  • Assists with collection efforts and resolution of customer problems.
  • May be responsible for disbursement of funds. Other duties as assigned.

  • As an analyst with our team, you will be responsible for analyzing financial statements, identifying trends, testing financial ratios, monitoring a portfolio of customer loans while evaluating each customer’s performance, requesting information from customers, responding to customer requests with a 5-star service mentality, providing your insights to help our institution make more informed decisions while directly contributing to our bottom line.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelors and some experience in loan processes, credit, credit analysis, documentation or other directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • Basic knowledge of credit, credit analysis and experience working with various types of loans. Ability to meet deadlines, audit documentation and solve problems.
  • Ability to make recommendations to officers.
  • Must have good communication, customer service and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software, including spreadsheets, word processing and various types of credit analysis software.
