Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Managing Legal Counsel to join our team. This role will initially be remote, with the potential to transition to our New York City office.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal representation and advice to the banks’ Capital Markets group on derivatives transactions, including reviewing, negotiating, and drafting documentation, managing risks, and educating employees on relevant laws and regulations.
- Respond to internal and external legal requests and demands, develop and implement processes, strategies, and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Create and review legal documentation to support the bank’s Capital Markets group, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Offer advice and support on other products and services offered by the Capital Markets group.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the bank’s Legal Department and other business units related to derivatives and equities transactions.
- Oversee and manage work performed by outside attorneys.
- Exercise legal judgment in matters with potentially significant financial and legal exposure.
- Guide, manage, and direct the activities of subordinates and functions within the assigned area.
- Hire, train, and supervise other staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Law degree with 8 years of directly related experience.
- Exceptional ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness in decision-making and problem-solving.
- In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory issues, compliance, litigation, risk assessment, and impact.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to serve as a resource and advisor for the bank’s Capital Markets group and other legal counsel and staff within the Legal Department.
