SUMMARY:
Performs tasks associated with that of a clean up person. Complies with all company safety rules and regulations. Demonstrates the ability to be a part of the production team by communicating and working within the parameters of the production department under the direction of the department supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes but is not limited to the following:
- During production hours start work in basement, clean everything that can be reached without getting in harms way.
- When mill is shut down for breaks go upstairs and clean debris away from drive chain and chain return areas.
- When production shift ends, clean up the barker, Head Rig, Edger, Trimmer and resaw area.
- Make sure all the wood debris is put into the conveyors before the end of your shift.
- Check message board and with mill supervisor for any special projects.
- Assist millwrights when requested.
- Know and utilize all lock-out/tag-out procedures associated with your job duties.
- Report any potential machinery defects immediately.
- Report any potential safety risks immediately.
- Keep work area clean and orderly
- Downtime is clean-up and minor maintenance time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Includes but is not limited to the following
- Must understand fundamentals of sawmilling.
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
- Work to promote a supportive teamwork environment.
- Work with limited supervision
- Promote and support a strong safe work environment.
- Must be willing to fill in on off shift and overtime when required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Previous mill experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write to enable you to understand MSDS sheets, LO/TO policies etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, hear and speak. Hand, wrist and arm repetition is required for turning lumber. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required in all areas of the sawmill. Dust masks are to be used when dust is visually airborne within your work environment.
The dust level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Eye protection is required in the sawmill.
The environmental factors are that of the season. Exposure to heat, rain, cold, snow is a daily occurrence due to most work is performed outside.
Personal Protective Equipment includes but is not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, leather footwear. Coveralls may be purchased through the laundry service.
