Job Summary
The IT Specialist will serve as our in-house IT resource. This role will work with all departments on outstanding IT issues and work directly with our Managed Service Provider to bring resolution. This position is responsible for all new hire set-up, management of in-house hardware, vendor relationships, and will work directly with current MSP on system upgrades. Zip Products is currently a corporate entity but still operates like a small business would. With this in mind, the candidate should be open to learning and assisting in duties outside of those laid out below.
Essential Functions
- Ability to run continuous improvement projects related to operating systems. Candidate should be able to develop a complete project outline, manage resources and vendors to push project to completion and ensure projects goals are achieved and sustained.
- Work as a liaison between Zip management and current Managed Service Provider. IT Specialist is the point of contact for all IT related issues and will work with MSP and Zip management to establish best practices.
- Work with MSP on workstation set-up and the on-boarding process (as it is related to IT) for all new associates.
- Work with Zip Product’s approved network of vendors to replace aging or non-operational on-site hardware including computers, printers, desk phones, etc.
- Serve as point of contact for Zip Product’s IT vendors and work with each vendor on service and pricing issues.
- Learn and provide support for Zip Product’s IT structure, ERP, and Mach software across all departments.
- Implement and train process improvements are the company’s IT infrastructure and ERP system.
- Monitor and manage scheduled security training.
- Assist in data import and management across various platforms within the business.
- Maintaining and updating Zip Product's phone system, Zultys
- Assist in data organization as it pertains to productivity reporting across the business
- Maintain consistent communication channels with CCI IT and Coker IT to troubleshoot technical challenges, implement system updates, facilitate effective project coordination for shared goals and daily task management
- Provide off-hours support as needed.
- Perform all tasks assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job does not require supervisor responsibility.
Work Environment, Schedule, and Availability
- The IT Specialist position will be based in Mechanicsville, VA.
- The individual in this position will spend several hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. He/she may also have to do some light to moderate lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
- Unless other arrangements are made with the supervisor, the individual in this position works a full-time schedule week during our open business hours. Position requires candidate to be available after hours and weekends in the event of an emergency or after-hours deployment.
- Up to 10% travel is expected for this position.
The successful candidate’s qualifications will include
- College degree in IT studies. Bachelor’s preferred OR
- Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience and/or training
- Strong knowledge base of operating systems
- Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, self-directed, with ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent problem-solving skills; able to offer multiple solutions to technical and operational problems and challenges
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; Comfortable engaging with employees in a professional and helpful manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
- Must be resourceful, able to adapt to new situations, and to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Desire to increase knowledge and learn new skills and technologies quickly and efficiently
