15.77 to $39.89 hourly DOE

Job Summary

The Construction Technician is responsible for initiating and building customer relationships, while providing technical solutions through our products and services. As brand ambassadors of Ziply Fiber within our communities, this position will bring excellent customer service and technical expertise to resolve telecommunication issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Utilize test equipment to install products and isolate trouble effectively.
• Support, install, and repair company products by providing Ziply Fiber services.
• Install and maintain inside wiring for residential / business broadband (HSI / Video) service.
• Install Central Office and B-box junctions as required for broadband continuity, digital subscriber carriers and associated broadband equipment, such as DSLAMS (Digital subscriber line access multiplexer), Residential Gateways and HSI (High-Speed Interface) business class routers.
• Install wireless home networking equipment; will include FTTH (Fiber to the House).
• Use and understand automated Dispatch equipment (i.e., handheld terminals), read and understand broadband service orders and trouble tickets, and the use of appropriate broadband test equipment.
• Effectively use preventive maintenance program by rebuilding aerial / buried / underground cables.
• Effectively use Ziply Fiber’s internal programs and dispatch programs to complete assignments.
• Navigate web, set up Business / Residential computer(s) and demonstrate applications to customers.
• Read and interpret Outside Plant drawings.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily a modern office setting.
