Business Intelligence Developer
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with a strong background in business/finance analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data structuring, data modeling, designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions that help our finance and other business units make data-driven decisions. You will work closely with the financial planning and analysis manager, business stakeholders, and IT teams to ensure our BI tools deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Data structure and modeling: Create and maintain data models that support financial and business analysis and reporting
- BI Solution Development: Design, develop, automate, and maintain BI dashboards, reports, and analytics tools using platforms like, but not limited to Power BI, Power Automate, SQL, and Excel.
- Data Analysis: Analyze complex financial and business data from diverse sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions.
- ETL Processes: Develop and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is structured, modeled, accurate, and available.
- Collaboration: Work closely with financial planning and analysis, business stakeholders, and IT to understand requirements and translate them into accurate technical solutions
- Guidance: Listen and provide best practice feedback to stakeholders for accomplishing requests. Ask questions and challenge accuracy.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and optimize BI and automation solutions for performance and scalability.
- Security: Ensure enforcement of security best practices both in development and data structures.
- Documentation: Document data pulls, BI solutions, processes, and best practices for future reference.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed by the business
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in BI tools like Power BI and similar
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relations databases
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Familiarity with multiple financial systems
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Good business acumen is a must.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, including data connections, power queries, and Office scripts
- Credible and proven technical skills and critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across the organization
- Possess project management skills and consistently align with project plans and timelines
- Ability to work with a team or independently and be self-directed
- Solid understanding of financial processes such as forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis
- Experience in compiling, modeling, interpreting and analyzing data to identify, explain, influence variances and trends
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a BI developer using Power BI and other solutions with a focus on financial/business data analysis.
- Relevant certification in BI tools. Certifications in data/financial/business analysis a plus.
