Job Description

The IT Helpdesk Level 1 Technician assists internal users with technical support and troubleshooting, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems. They will be responsible for managing hardware setup and maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting IT infrastructure.

Essential Role Functions

  • Hardware Support: Assist with the setup and maintenance of laptops, desktops, tablets, and iPads using Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools.
  • Printer Support: Troubleshoot and maintain various printer models such as HP, Canon, Zebra, and Zebra Hip Printers.
  • Vendor Coordination: Communicate with external vendors for hardware replacements, warranty claims, and general maintenance.
  • Microsoft 365 Suite Management: Help manage and support the Microsoft 365 suite, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD, and other access controls.
  • Helpdesk Support: Provide first-level technical support for internal users via email, phone, and our ticketing system.
  • Ticketing System: Use a ticketing system (like Spiceworks) to track and resolve support tickets in a timely manner.
  • WMS & ERP Support: Assist with the HighJump Cloud Warehouse Management System (WMS) and SAP ERP solution (training provided if needed).
  • Asset Management: Help track and manage IT hardware inventory, including labeling and reporting.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Provide basic network support, including working with access points, switches, and security cameras.
  • User Onboarding/Offboarding: Assist with setting up accounts and workstations for new employees and support offboarding tasks.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of support requests, solutions, and hardware configurations.

Work Experience/Requirements For This Role

  • Education: Some college education or equivalent work experience preferred, ideally with internships or coursework in IT support.
  • Certification: CompTIA A preferred, but relevant work experience or internships can substitute.
  • Experience:
  • Some technical support experience, including internships or part-time roles involving troubleshooting, hardware setup, or helpdesk support.
  • Skills:
  • Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting (laptops, desktops, printers).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft 365 Suite (SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD).
  • Basic networking knowledge (access points, switches, troubleshooting).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with a ticketing system (Spiceworks or similar).

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including cold, hot, or noisy conditions.

Schedule

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7 AM - 4 PM EST with limited project and emergency support off-hours.
  • Work Location: Houston, TX
