Overview

The Assistant Controller position within Zoot focuses on recording and analyzing financial information and assisting with the preparation of financial reports for Zoot and Zoot’s subsidiaries and affiliates to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities.
The Accounting group within Zoot Enterprises, Inc. is primarily responsible for the proper, accurate and timely processing and reporting of the financial transactions of Zoot Enterprises and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Record, examine and correct accounting transactions for multiple accounting areas including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare, record, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Research discrepancies in general ledger accounts, identify and implement resolution to identified issues.
  • Reviews and approve the work of others on the Accounting team.
  • Facilitate and assist in month end close activities for Zoot and is subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports as needed.
  • Partner with the Controller to create and implement internal control policies.
  • Partner with the other Zoot teams to create and implement streamlined processes.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to maintain records and systems.
  • Maintain and manage internal and third-party software programs to align corporate needs.
  • Analyze process adoption and drives to improve accuracy, streamline processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Ensure all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
  • Assist in handling routine financial inquiries from both internal and external entities.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial audit requirements.
  • Assist with plans, designs, improvements, and enhancements to accounting processes, procedures, and systems to ensure strong internal controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Compliance with and knowledge of Zoot’s Policies and Procedures, Code of Business Conduct, and Employee Agreement.
  • Achieve a service-focused culture with emphasis on delivering on-time, high-quality products and services to internal and external customers.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements

This position requires:
  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor Degree Accounting or related field required.
  • Years of Experience 2 years for work related experience preferred.
Or, an equal combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements

  • All positions at Zoot require the ability to move about inside an office environment which includes the operation of computers and other office productivity machinery and frequently communicates with other employees, clients, vendors, and visitors.
  • This position specifically requires long periods of sitting at a computer workstation.
Working Conditions

  • In order to optimize team performance, the work space for this position is typically a cubicle setting in an open space environment.
Work Hours and Location

  • It is expected that exempt employees, and specifically this position, regularly and consistently report to work on-site, at Zoot headquarters, during normal business hours.
  • This position will require travel 5% of the time.
