Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs tailored for students with special needs.
- Support students in their daily activities, helping them to engage with the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Communicate effectively with students, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
- Utilize techniques such as American Sign Language or Montessori methods to facilitate learning for students with varying abilities.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teacher regarding individual student needs.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop strategies that support students with developmental disabilities.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in special education or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with Montessori principles or American Sign Language is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with students and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a classroom team while maintaining a focus on individual student needs.
- A passion for educating and empowering students with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed.
- Previous experience in a preschool or private school setting is advantageous but not required.
