Zulu Pods is seeking a summer intern who will work as a robotics engineer supporting the development of our SmartPODS products in our Northampton, Massachusetts location. The selected individual will contribute with a mix of hands-on experience and technical skills. The robotics intern will help design the robotics controls of these devices, gaining experience in software development, mechanical design, electronic controls, prototyping, and testing.
We are interested in candidates who are highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills, recognized leadership experience and outstanding academic records in engineering. Generally, students selected for internships have completed their freshman year.
Lastly, working at a start-up is dynamic and may take on many other shapes. This also means that there will be opportunities to develop this role to suit your skills and interests, even outside of engineering.

Responsibilities:
- Robotics Design and Prototyping: Participate in brainstorming sessions and mechanical design reviews, assist with CAD modeling of components and assemblies, and manufacturing and assembling prototypes
- Software and Programming: Write and modify software code, implement simple automation tasks and write test scripts, and work with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
- Sensor Integration and Testing: Evaluate and select sensors for integration into robotics systems. Collect and analyze sensor data for performance evaluation
- Testing and Debugging: Run test cases for hardware and software, document bugs and assist with troubleshooting, and measure performance metrics.
- Documenting and Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of designs, code, and test results. Prepare project demos and presentations
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, operations, and program management) to successfully execute projects on time and within design scope
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS engineering degree (open to applicants pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical/Electronics, Computer/Software, Mechatronics)
- Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0
- Computer Skills: Python, C , Solidworks, Matlab/Simulink, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Github
- Willing and able to obtain a security clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
- $20/hr for a 3 month term with options to extend
