Position Description: The Controls Engineer provides technical support for all areas of automation and control systems within the manufacturing environment. Organizes, analyzes, and presents interpretations of data for operational issues or engineering projects. The Controls Engineer is responsible for defining control system requirements necessary to fulfill equipment and process needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support the manufacturing activities
Communicate and engage effectively with all levels of the organization to implement automation strategies and resolve technical issues.
Function as a technical expert for control systems, providing guidance and troubleshooting support for automation hardware and software.
Create and deliver training programs on control systems for various levels of the organization and serve as a resource in cross-functional teams.
Coach and develop operators and technicians in troubleshooting and maintaining control systems, ensuring rigorous application of automation best practices.
Become actively involved in daily control system operations when required to meet production schedules or resolve technical issues.
Conduct root cause analysis on control system failures, perform system capability studies, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Routinely audit the performance of automation systems and report findings, driving improvements in operational efficiency.
Generate project cost estimates and schedules related to control system upgrades and new installations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Organizational, project management, problem-solving, as well as validation protocol, and technical writing capability
Proficient in SCADA Systems and PLC logic
Ability to trouble-shoot and diagnose automation and controls issues
Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Concepts
Demonstrated Analytical Problem Solving
Resolution of operational impediments
Commercialization of processes and / or products
Effective capital equipment purchases
Cost effective scoping of levers associated with materials and equipment configuration, maximizing ROI
