Job Overview:

The Safety/OSHA 30 Observer is responsible for monitoring workplace safety standards and ensuring that safety practices are in compliance with OSHA regulations. This role involves observing, reporting, and ensuring safety protocols are followed on-site, with a specific focus on sites or operations where the OSHA 30 certification is a requirement for workers. The observer will also support the implementation of safety training and help to maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Monitoring: Regularly observe job sites and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
• OSHA 30 Knowledge Application: Apply the knowledge gained from OSHA 30-hour training to identify and report potential hazards and unsafe behaviors on-site.
• Training and Orientation: Assist in conducting safety orientations and training sessions for workers, especially regarding OSHA standards and safe work practices.
• Hazard Reporting: Identify and document unsafe conditions, practices, or behaviors and report them to the Safety Manager or Site Supervisor for corrective action.
• Accident Investigation: Assist with investigations of accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
• Safety Audits: Participate in regular safety audits and inspections to assess site conditions and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Safety Equipment Check: Ensure proper use and availability of safety equipment, such as personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection, and fire safety equipment.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, training, and corrective actions taken.
• Promote Safety Culture: Act as a role model for safety behavior and promote a safety-first culture among all workers on-site.

Qualifications:

• OSHA 30-Hour Certification: Must have completed the OSHA 30-hour training for construction or general industry (depending on job scope).
• Experience in Safety: Previous or industrial setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Strong understanding of OSHA standards, safety protocols, and hazard identification.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to observe and report on safety conditions and make suggestions for improvements.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report safety issues and communicate with workers and supervisors.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, walking or standing for extended periods and potentially lifting or carrying equipment.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify safety issues and assist in finding solutions to mitigate risks.

Work Environment:

• Physical Demands: The position may require standing, walking, and inspecting various sites, often in outdoor or construction settings. PPE may be required.
• Work Schedule: Typically full-time, with occasional overtime depending on site requirements and project deadlines.
• Travel: Occasional travel to different job sites may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
