Zweigle’s is now offering a Mechanic Apprentice Program in Rochester, NY. This program gives an opportunity to work alongside a qualified mechanic to gain the skills/knowledge necessary to become a permanent mechanic with Zweigle’s!

Job Description:
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs according to company guidelines and equipment specifications ensuring that all paperwork and procedures are completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Diagnoses electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and similar problems to apply appropriate corrective action
- Adjusts plant equipment ensuring the proper performance and safe operating conditions
- Monitors and supports machine operators, team leaders and managers, which includes spending time on the shop floor while in operation
- Performs various “in shop” repairs to include welding, milling, machining and other related activities
- Reads and interprets all new machinery and equipment manuals required to perform maintenance
- Participates in company and departmental training on policies, procedures and work methods
Requirements
- Job requires safely walking, bending and lifting 50lbs up to 75lbs
- Working in cold environments (40 degrees) as well as warm environments (85 degrees) at certain times of the year
- Person must have basic computer skills: ability to use email and learn our maintenance system to enter work history and purchase orders
- Operating a variety of power and hand tools to perform essential job duties. Forklift training can be performed on the job
- Strong polite verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Hours
Initial training hours are during first shift Monday – Friday/8 hours per day. Long term hours will be a hybrid of first shift and second shift rotation work shift Monday – Friday, with possible Saturdays for PM and rotating Saturdays with other maintenance techs during the busy season from March to July. Rotation for mid-shift/second shift with the other maintenance techs.
Candidates being considered for the Apprentice program will have general mechanical knowledge and have an interest in becoming a permanent Mechanic with Zweigle’s.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently attending or has attended a vocational school for Mechanics and Electromechanical careers. Opportunities for full tuition reimbursement with a long-term work commitment.
On the Job Experience Includes:
- Electrical experience as well as mechanical experience
- Preventative maintenance as well as on the job service during the work hours
- How to change out motors, changing bearing on shafts, change electric motors, and work on automated equipment electrical control circuits.
