The Fire Inspector works with building officials for fire-related code review and approval of occupancy permits, business licenses, and zoning. Conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Being a Fire Inspector conducts fire investigations. Documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations, and issues violation notices as needed. In addition, Fire Inspector possesses extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science.
