Machine Learning Engineer

The company:

Munich-based biotechnology startup founded in 2021, specializing in AI-driven drug discovery. The company are focused on small molecule development, leveraging the power of advanced deep learning models to analyze protein–molecule interaction. They have an internal Drug Discovery platform that is used to accelerate their internal drug discovery process and use their technology in partnerships with Biotech / Pharma companies across Europe to provide unique insights into experimental decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement cutting-edge deep learning algorithms tailored for drug discovery applications.
• Drive innovation in predictive modeling across a range of therapeutic areas and disease types.
• Translate biological and chemical insights into scalable ML architectures that impact real-world R&D.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to integrate models into discovery workflows.
• Contribute to the development of proprietary AI platforms that accelerate and de-risk the drug development pipeline.
• Stay at the forefront of the field by exploring novel methods in generative modeling, graph learning, and multi-modal data integration.

Requirements:

• Strong experience developing deep learning models for drug discovery applications.
• MS or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Background in drug discovery, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a similar scientific field.
• Proficient in Python and modern ML/DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
