ABOUT THE ROLEWe're looking for a Senior People Operations Manager to build and lead our People Ops function at our Berlin HQ. You'll ensure smooth, compliant, and scalable operations as we grow across Europe. You’ll work hands-on, improve core processes, and be the go-to expert on German labour law, while also supporting our international expansion.
Scale & Structure People Ops:
Build compliant, efficient HR processes that support Numa’s rapid growth across Germany and Europe.
Audit & Optimise:
Review current workflows, identify inefficiencies or compliance gaps (especially in Germany), and implement improvements.
Contract & Lifecycle Management:
Own the full contract lifecycle and employee processes—from onboarding to offboarding—ensuring legal compliance and a smooth employee experience.
Policy & Compliance Leadership:
Create, review, and update HR policies in line with German labour law and ensure broad awareness of regulations across European markets.
Tool & System Ownership:
Manage our HRIS and relevant tools (e.g., Personio), ensuring they support automation, scale, and compliance across countries.
Employee Relations Expertise:
Act as the primary contact for complex employee matters, advising in line with German regulations while being culturally sensitive to other regions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with business leaders to align People Ops with company goals, supporting strategic growth in multiple markets.
8 years of People Ops experience, including leadership roles in startups or high-growth companies in Germany.
Deep expertise in German labour law (e.g., hiring, termination, DSGVO, compensation regulations).
Experience scaling HR functions across borders (European markets a plus).
Strong process design, compliance, and automation mindset.
A passion for employee experience and operational excellence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both English and German.
Comfortable handling HR systems and tools, with an eye for efficiency and scale.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and mitigate regulatory risks.
Experience with Personio or other scalable HRIS platforms.
Implemented HR tools or systems with international scalability in mind.
Certifications in German labour law or international HR practices.
Background in digital or tech-driven companies.
