This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw in Poland, where You will join our team FCP KYC (Financial Crime Prevention - Know Your Costumer) in Financial Crime Prevention program. The KYC team develops and maintain our solutions to support our respective banks in their effort to prevent financial crime and terror financing. The team area of responsibility is centered around the risk scoring of costumers and the knowledge about the costumer and the system to support the processes to gather and analyses data. The Senior Cobol Engineer is a crucial part of our agile team, and you will be a part of a full stack delivery team with 2 other Cobol engineers, 4 Java developers, 2 SAS developers and 2 Business analysts. All supported by a Scrum master, Product owner and a development manager. The team is located both in Denmark and Poland, and you will be meet in the office by 9 other team members in Warsaw.
As senior Cobol engineer in team KYC you will be challenged by both supporting our current solutions but also be a central part in our future development of our systems in the team. We are focused on value creation for our customers, and continuously adding functionality to existing systems as well at providing new solutions to assist our banks preventive measures towards money laundry and terror financing.
At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to eight days per month. Your direct manager will be Lars Simmelsgaard
Primary task and responsibilities include:
- Proactive maintenance of the systems under the team support, in close collaboration with our Java developers and Business analysts.
- Ad hoc handling of any incidents reported by our customers, to ensure stable operations of the systems to our costumer.
- Processing of bank requirements together with business analysts to transform customer requirements into feasible development tasks.
- You will work with all the roles in the team, from Business analysts, Java developer, SAS developers and Product Owner to solve and develop our systems. We have a close collaboration with the other 5 teams in our program.
- The team is located in both Denmark and Poland and we meet up physically 1-2 times a year. Given development tasks can request your presence in Denmark besides the full team gatherings.
To succeed you will have:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in mainframe development and various languages such as Cobol / CICS or PL/1 from the financial sector, telecom, pharma, or similar
- Experience with working with DB2, IDz/RDz, JCL, TSO & OPC. We don’t require extensive experience on the above, but rather an interest in learning about these tools and how to utilize them.
- A curious mind with an open nature and desire to knowledge-share with others.
- A desire to learn new things and to improve continuously.
- An urge to ensure a stable and safe system. Take pride in our solutions and acknowledge the beauty in resilient code.
- Experienced in working in an agile team, and to participate actively in the agile events.
- To master English fluently both spoken and written, and not be afraid to interact across borders with team member in Denmark.
It’s nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of Jira and Confluence, while we uses these product heavily for our documentation and agile planning.
- Knowledge of Kafka and/or OpenShift Container Platform.
