Job Title: COBOL Developer

Location: Bucharest, Romania (Remote)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented COBOL Developer to maintain, enhance, and support our legacy mainframe systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with COBOL programming in enterprise environments and a solid understanding of batch processing, mainframe tools, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs on mainframe systems.
• Analyze existing code to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand system requirements.
• Perform data analysis, write technical documentation, and support data migrations or conversions.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Provide production support, including debugging and performance tuning.
• Support integration of COBOL programs with other systems and technologies.
• Work with job scheduling tools and utilities (e.g., JCL, Control-M).
• Maintain and enhance batch and online applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong programming experience in COBOL.
• Experience with JCL (Job Control Language) and mainframe utilities.
• Working knowledge of VSAM, CICS, DB2, or other legacy databases.
• Familiarity with IBM mainframe environments (z/OS).
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual with French OR Italian OR Spanish will be a plus.
