Geologist

Element has an opportunity for Geologist.

In this role, The Geologist provides geological expertise and support to Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of various projects. This includes site assessment, geological mapping, risk assessment, material analysis, and supervision of construction activities, particularly in underground and tunnel projects. The Geologist also plays a key role in ensuring project quality, safety, and adherence to budget and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Investigation and Assessment:

• Assist the Project Manager in studying the suitability of proposed sites from a geological and geomorphological perspective.
• Review and provide expert opinions on surface and underground works, including roads, bridges, and tunnel sites.
• Conduct geological mapping and logging in tunnel and project sites, including borehole logging and interpretation.
• Review fieldwork and site investigations proposed by consultants, making recommendations as needed, including specifications for borehole drilling and sampling.

Geological Analysis and Reporting:

• Collect, analyse, and interpret geological data related to projects, including data from borehole investigations.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports for various projects, incorporating findings from borehole data.
• Advise on the quality and suitability of construction materials (soil and rock) based on borehole samples and laboratory testing.

Construction Supervision and Monitoring:

• Supervise tunnel construction activities, including excavation, drilling, blasting, mucking, and support works.
• Supervise and monitor underground and surface construction work, ensuring adherence to drawings, bills of quantities, and specifications.
• Inspect site investigation works carried out by consultants and contractors, including borehole drilling and sampling operations.
• Ensure safe, practical, and economical design and construction methods.
• Carry out periodic quality checks and ensure "As-Built Drawings" are prepared and documented.

Project Management Support:

• Assist the Project Manager in monitoring the day-to-day work of consultants and contractors.
• Ensure projects adhere to budgets and timescales.
• Liaise with construction and geotechnical engineers to ensure the quality of work and investigations.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Interact and collaborate with other divisions within the organization as required.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the company.

Require4ments:

• Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma in Geology, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience
• Experience in construction of LTA/PUB/Airport/ Airside/ Runway projects preferred
