The Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) comprises the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Office. The Office supports NMRC and the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the following activities:
Oversees the planning, development and advancement of biomedical research in Singapore
Engages in research strategy and planning
Provides funding to support competitive research grants, national programmes and core research enablers/infrastructure
Responsible for the development of clinician-scientists through awards and fellowships
Fosters interaction and knowledge exchange among researchers.
You will manage the administration of the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Centre Grant which provides funding to the public healthcare clusters and institutions to build core research capabilities to meet the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) goals for the human health and potential (HHP) domain. You will also support the Engagement and Governance branch in the production of annual reports and biannual newsletters, organisation of the annual NMRC Awards Ceremony and Research Symposium and quarterly Council meetings.
Job Responsibilities
You will handle, under the supervision of the Branch Head, the pre-award and post-award management of the NMRC Centre Grant. This includes secretariat roles such as checking grant applications, supporting the grant evaluation process, staffing review panel meetings and approval submissions, managing the award process and processing post-award requests.
As part of the post-award management and monitoring of the RIE-funded programmes, you will also assist in tracking the overall progress and deliverables of Centre Grant. As such, you will be liaising with the Centre Grant investigators and research offices from the public healthcare clusters/ institutions on grant-related matters.
You will support the E&G team in the organisation of Council meetings and planning of events including but not limited to the annual NMRC Awards Ceremony and Research Symposium, as well as production of annual reports and biannual newsletters.
You will handle the procurement for services according to MOHH’s procurement policies which includes the paperwork on request for quotation/proposal, sourcing and liaising with external vendors, and working with the Procurement and Contracts division as well as Finance division to put up approval submissions.
As a team member, you will support the execution of events and council meetings on the actual days.
Where relevant, you may be assigned to cross-division and cross-branch activities.
Job Requirements
Education Requirement(s):
Education in biomedical sciences or relevant disciplines
Key Qualities:
Knowledge of the local biomedical landscape would be an advantage
Keen interest in healthcare research, innovation and translation
Strong administrative and analytical abilities
Good writing, interpersonal and communication skills
Good time management skills
Responsible and independent, with the ability to work in a team
Years of Experience Required:
At least 3 years of experience in research funding management.
