Job Posting for Research Engineer I/II (Air Traffic Management Human Factors) at Nanyang Technological University
The Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) was jointly established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2013. As a renowned research institute, ATMRI focuses on finding innovative solutions to advance air traffic management (ATM) and catalyze the transformation of ATM systems in the region. The institute is at the forefront of research, integrating advanced AI, data analytics, and human-centered approaches to enable next-generation ATM systems.
Responsibilities:
Assists in development of the assessment framework for controller workload, communication and coordination efficiency, and decision-making effectiveness when operating under and transitioning from normal and multi-sector planner staffing levels.
Analyzing and optimizing users' human factor performance to ensure smooth transition between staffing level and effective use of ATM tools.
Conducting qualitative and quantitative research to collect user feedback by analyzing bio-signal data or questionnaires.
Facilitating communication and collaboration among experts from diverse backgrounds to integrate knowledge
Publishing in top-tier journals and conferences, mentoring students, and collaborating with industry and academic partners to deliver impactful results.
Requirements:
Minimally a Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Operations Research, or a related field
Domain knowledge in ATM is highly advantageous
Strong research contributions, evidenced by publications in SCI Q1 journals and peer-reviewed conferences
Proficiency in programming (Python, C , MATLAB)
Excellent English communication and writing skills for research work
Capable of managing multiple tasks effectively, both independently and as part of a collaborative team
