We are looking for a Project Officer or a Research Associate to work on a project funded by the Bezos Center for Sustainable Proteins. Within this Center, our goal will be to evaluate the nutritional profole and protein quality of alternative proteins. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in analytical biochemistry/chemistry or bioengineering, who will be tasked to conduct in depth biochemical characterization of alternative proteins and peptides using analytical methods such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), amino acid analysis (AAA) and liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Additionally, the successful candidate will also be assessing the structural characteristics of proteins and peptides using spectroscopic techniques such as circular dichroism (CD) and infrared spectroscopy. The candidate will be working in close collaboration with our colleagues from the Center for Sustainable proteins, who will be assessing in parallel the protein digestibility, bio accessibility and bioavailability of alternative proteins
Key Responsibilities:
-
To carry out analytical biochemical analysis using HPLC, AAA, LC-MS characterization.
-
To carry out structural characterization of alternative proteins and digested peptides using CD and FTIR spectroscopy.
-
To closely interact with our colleagues assessing the protein digestibility, bioaccessibility and bioavailability of alternative proteins.
-
To produce high quality bimonthly reports and documents that consolidate research findings and liaise with our collaborators for admin matters related to the project.
Required educational qualification, experience, skills and competencies
-
BSc or MSc degree life sciences, chemistry, bioengineering or related field.
