Software Development Project Manager

The role requires the incumbent to oversee all aspects of software development projects from initiation to deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely delivery within budget constraints.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and implementing effective project management methodologies to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage full software development project lifecycles from conception to delivery
• Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, resources, timelines and budgets
• Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives
• Implement and maintain project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban)
• Manage project risks, dependencies, and constraints through appropriate mitigation strategies
• Conduct regular status meetings and provide timely progress reports to key stakeholders
• Allocate resources effectively and optimize team performance through proper task distribution
• Manage change requests and scope adjustments through established control procedures
• Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Monitor project quality metrics and ensure adherence to defined standards
• Perform post-implementation reviews to identify process improvements
• Mentor junior project team members and contribute to organizational knowledge sharing
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Collaborate with product owners to define and prioritize product features and requirements
• Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles impeding project progress
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in software development project management
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in software development roles
• Proficiency in project management tools (JIRA, Microsoft Project, Asana, etc.)
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies
• Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and traditional project management approaches
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Proven track record of successfully delivered software projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience managing cross-functional and potentially distributed teams
• Ability to understand technical requirements and communicate effectively with development teams
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• PMP or Agile certification (SCRUM, CSM, etc.) is a plus
• Experience with budgeting and resource planning
• Knowledge of risk management and quality assurance practices
