Purpose & Scope
The Head of Renewable Technology plays a pivotal leadership role within the Group Center of Excellence (GCOE) of our renewable energy company. This role oversees the technical and operational excellence of Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage assets across all life cycle stages—from bid development, project construction, to operations, maintenance, and optimization. With oversight across Singapore, Southeast Asia, China, India, UK, and the Middle East, the Head of Renewable Technology ensures consistency, governance, and excellence across all markets and projects.
The mission of the GCOE team is to enhance and scale operational capabilities to achieve our business and renewables targets while maintaining the highest safety standards. The Head of Renewable Technology is a key driver of this mission, unifying approaches across the Group to achieve Consistency and Excellence in renewable technologies.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the Group's renewable technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and renewables targets.
- Provide domain expertise in Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage technologies, guiding decisions at all life cycle stages.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
Technical Consistency
- Develop, enforce and enhance Group-wide policies, standards, and governance frameworks for renewable technologies.
- Standardize data measurement and management practices across all regions.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance at every project stage.
Excellence in Execution
- Build robust processes to enhance asset performance and maximize return on investment.
- Provide technical advisory support to business units and market teams for projects.
Capability Building
- Build and guide a high-performing, diverse technical team across multiple markets
- Drive talent management initiatives, including training programs and knowledge-sharing platforms, to deepen domain expertise within the Group.
- Foster collaboration across market teams to drive innovation and operational improvements.
Governance and Performance Monitoring
- Establish KPIs to measure performance of renewable assets and oversee continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure regular L2 assessments, and reporting on asset health and compliance.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks to safeguard project and operational success.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- 15 years of experience in renewable energy technologies, with demonstrated expertise in Solar, Wind, and/or Energy Storage.
- Proven track record in managing complex, large-scale renewable projects across multiple geographies.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of renewable energy asset life cycles, including bidding, construction, and O&M phases.
- Familiarity with global renewable energy standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience in optimizing renewable asset performance through innovative technology and operational strategies.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Experience in building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Strategic and Analytical Thinking
- Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with business and decarbonization goals.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical and operational data and drive data-informed decision-making.
