About the role:
We are looking for an outstanding, passionate and motivated individual to lead and grow the Carbon Trust’s business, team and impact in Asia.
The role is responsible for leading the development of new work across Asia, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia, and ensuring its effective delivery through our regional office in Singapore, working in collaboration with our Global Practice Areas and partners.
This role would suit an experienced sustainability leader with experience in consulting and deep knowledge of the low carbon policy, technology, finance and market context in Southeast Asia. However, we would also welcome applications from candidates from different industry sectors if you have a passion for climate change, a willingness to learn and can demonstrate an ability and desire to successfully move into this growing sector.

Main duties and responsibilities:
Business development (40%):
- Initiate and develop business opportunities for the Carbon Trust across the region in line with the business strategy for the company in Asia
- Pre-position, champion, write, manage and/or participate in client proposals, leveraging and working collaboratively with Carbon Trust experts from our global network of offices and partner organisations
- Build strategic alliances with local and international stakeholders in Asia, and establish and manage a comprehensive network of key partners and clients across the region
- Develop key large-scale, low-carbon programme opportunities in Asia that are based on our global expertise and local knowledge and network
- Represent the Carbon Trust across Asia by providing speeches, presentations and media interviews that raise our profile and influence key stakeholders
Delivery (25%):
- Provide direction and leadership of the Carbon Trust’s portfolio of projects across Asia, working collaboratively with colleagues from our Global Practice Areas and partners
- Quality control deliverables and ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations
- Provide performance oversight across the Carbon Trust’s portfolio of projects in Asia to ensure that the outputs are delivered on-time, profitably and invoiced on time
Strategy, team management and operations (25%):
- Develop and agree the strategy for the Carbon Trust in Asia in collaboration with the Heads of relevant Global Practice Areas and the Managing Directors of the Carbon Trust Group
- Lead the Carbon Trust office in Singapore, ensuring that the office is a productive and happy place to work and that all team members are suitably supported and inspired in their roles
- Oversee all recruitment and support the personal development of the Singapore office, working in collaboration with Heads of our Global Practice Areas
- Lead the development of quarterly progress reports to the Leadership Team, including tracking financial and impact performance, risk management and operational challenges
- Oversee the tracking of Carbon Trust Singapore’s cash flow
- Ensure that the office and team comply with the relevant accounting and legal regulations. Lead on health, safety and environment policies for all Carbon Trust activities and employees across Asia. Ensure that Carbon Trust policies including procurement, anti-bribery and personal conduct are followed.
Knowledge management and learning (10%):
- Monitor the development of low carbon policy, technologies and market trends across Asia to understand market potential and to develop new capabilities to deliver impact
- Keep track of policy news, publications and events on relevant topics including energy transition, (covering fossil fuel phase out, renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy systems), sustainable finance, and other priority sectors in the region (including ICT, F&B and manufacturing and industry)
- Keep up-to-date with the development of new propositions and initiatives across the rest of the Carbon Trust, and ensure that the office’s knowledge management systems are effective

- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to lead and run workshop sessions, present to audiences and write high quality reports and proposals
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build client and partner relationships and influence stakeholders
- Excellent strategic problem-solving skills and solution development
- Comfort with financial analysis
- An entrepreneurial approach and growth mentality
Qualifications and experience:
- Demonstrated leadership on strategic business development, including a strong track record of developing successful proposals ideally within a management consultancy
- Strong relevant networks in government, business, finance and philanthropy across Asia, with a focus on Southeast Asia
- Experience of team leadership and line management
- Experience of effective business leadership and financial management
- Experience of communicating effectively in writing and speech at Director level for senior government and business audiences
- Experience of running projects, delivering high quality outputs and managing budgets effectively
- Experience in contract negotiation and management
- Masters’ level degree educated (or equivalent)
- Fluency in English is essential, knowledge of other Asian languages is desirable but not essential
