Market Development Manager (Shipping & Trade)

This pivotal role is responsible for developing and implementing trade strategies, managing the P&L of assigned markets, and driving profitable growth. The Trade Manager will be instrumental in enhancing ESL’s market position and ensuring long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Trade Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive trade strategy by analyzing macroeconomic trends, geopolitical shifts, and economic policies, ensuring alignment with ESL’s regional growth ambitions.
• Market Intelligence: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and anticipate industry trends—maintaining an in-depth, instinctive understanding of market dynamics.
• Revenue Optimization: Drive pricing and revenue management strategies to maximize profitability while sustaining market competitiveness.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, including market volatility, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors.
• Cost Optimization: Partner with operations teams to establish a cost-efficient and competitive trade structure.
• Trade Leadership: Oversee cross-functional teams across HQ, agencies, and the broader network, ensuring clarity, strategic alignment, and execution excellence.
• Customer & Partner Relations: Strengthen relationships with key customers and partners, collaborating with commercial teams on tenders and contract negotiations.
• Data-Driven Strategy: Leverage data analytics to generate insights that support informed decision-making and trade optimization.
