General Accounting Manager

For our Finance Shared Service Center quarter located in Oudenaarde, Belgium we are currently looking for an experienced General Accounting Manager.

The general accounting manager supervises the accounting team and is responsible for the accounting of our European legal entities. He/she reports to the Director General Accounting and Tax.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

• Supervise and coach a team of 12 accountants based in Oudenaarde, fostering their professional growth and performance.
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting for European legal entities, including:
• Managing turnover, profitability, IFRS 16 lease accounting, and asset accounting.
• Reviewing and controlling general ledger variances.
• Overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Performing detailed month-end controls.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with professional standards and compliance requirements.
• Offer day-to-day accounting support and professional advice to the team.
• Review Intrastat and VAT returns
• Assist in preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements.
• Support the tax team during social and tax audits
• Maintain and improve internal control processes
• Act as the primary spokesperson during audits.
• Develop a strong understanding of our business operations to enhance accounting accuracy and effectiveness.

Applicants should ideally:

• Minimum of 7 years of senior accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial position.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, Business Administration or Accounting
• Proficiency in IFRS and local GAAP; knowledge of US GAAP is an advantage.
• Strong familiarity with SAP/ERP system is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in Dutch and English; knowledge of German or French is an advantage.
• Open-minded, collaborative, and an effective team player.
• Hands-on approach and eagerness to learn.
