10 Concord Hospital Inc. is Hiring a Remote Child Life Specialist- Part Time

Summary Conducts planned educational and recreational activities for children, adolescents, and their families. Assist families in recognizing and dealing with the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development of children and adolescents. Assists patients with activities of daily living, under the direction of the RN and within scope of practice. Acts as patient advocate and functions as a full member of the health care team. Education Four years of formal training or education beyond the high school level (e.g., Bachelors Degree). Certification, Registration, and Licensure Certifications preferred: Child Life Studies. License preferred: Licensed Nursing Assistant. Experience Completion of a child life practicum/internship and one year's recent related experience working with children and families. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and initiates educational and recreational activities. Contributes to the individual patient care plan. Fosters normal growth and development. Plans and implements patient activities. Assists families of patients to understand the developmental needs of their children and their adjustment to the hospital. Provides reinforcement and distraction through play activities of the treatment being carried out. Documents patient activities or care provided, and reports to the RN observations of patient’s physical, social and mental status and basic patient data collected. Orients, supervises and provides direct guidance to hospital based students. Maintains and oversees equipment and supplies. Role models the use of family centered care and educates staff in principles of atrumatic care. Provides a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment for infants, children, adolescents, and families during health care experiences. Performs activities of daily living and personal care needs under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Performs technical skills/procedures relating to physical, mental health and social needs of patients under the guidance and supervision of the RN.
