Your Role at Baxter:

The Sr Data Steward is accountable for many aspects of data management. This role must be fluent in data concepts & principles, data governance, and data quality. Their functional knowledge is required to further the aims and objectives of the data governance organization, as well as servicing the data needs of the Business Function(s) for which they are responsible. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cataloging critical data assets for the organization while providing insights and guidance for improving the quality and effectiveness of those assets. This role will be a part of the Data Governance organization, but must closely partner with Business Teams, IT Leads, and Data Consumers to create and execute a comprehensive data strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Aid with the creation and execution of the end-to-end data governance strategy for a specific subject area, including:
    • Identification and documentation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting requirements, and analytics
    • Identifying the current source systems of record, data required in the Enterprise Data Hub (or similar repositories), and end reporting solutions/uses, e.g. Tableau and Power BI
  • Support the data catalog/data marketplace and “market” its use through the usage of a data glossary, collaboration on data quality and business rules, and assistance with establishing/maintaining KPIs
  • Participate and contribute to reporting metrics on % of artifacts cataloged: applications, tables, fields, glossary items, data quality requirements, established lineage paths, users, etc.
  • Identify, educate, and develop key data contacts among the business community and facilitate ongoing engagement necessary to achieve Data Governance objectives and meet business community needs.
  • Partner with Data Analysts to determine and document data quality standards for data within applicable domain(s) and then partner with IT to ensure they are implemented on underlying datasets.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2 years of experience working with stakeholders in a large-scale setting collecting requirements, interacting with both IT and Business users and delivering against a deadline
  • Ability to generate strong and succinct definitions and data flows
  • Experience or knowledge of with Data Governance tools, preferably Collibra
  • Industry experience through Information Technology or business functions such as: Finance, Supply Chain, Medical/Pharma, Quality, Manufacturing or HR preferred
  • Understanding of Data Models and governance best practices
  • Ability to deliver training and mentoring for key business data and departmental processes
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize or escalate if prioritization assistance is needed
  • Prior experience working on a remote or distributed team of cross functional resources
  • Immaculate English fluency

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $88,000 to $121,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
