Job Description Summary The Clinical Specialist is a resource for the execution of the Medication Delivery Solutions value-added clinical business strategy. The role implements clinical programs and initiatives that differentiate the MDS product portfolio based on improved clinical outcomes and process enhancements which may result in a lower cost-in-use. The expertise and credentials of the Clinical Specialist enhances the credibility of recommendations to customers and strengthen customer service and support. This support to customers is achieved through recommending best practice and facilitating education. The Clinical Specialist actively engages in conversion management, product implementation and training of Medication Delivery Solutions products. Responsibilities: Ultrasound guided vascular access device placement experienced required. As advised by the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Specialist role will be passionate about, but not exclusively limited to, the activities below: Performance: Leads their responsibilities within the allotted T&E expense budget Provides updates monthly to the Clinical Manager on regional training activities and supported provided in region (CE courses, Assessments, Implementations, Customer Meetings, etc.) per activities delineated in the Individual Impact Goals Facilitates customer training classes in support of conversion or retention for key customers Collaborates with the Regional Team to clinically support customer engagements from pre-sale through conversion Develops strong working relationships with end-users while providing product in-servicing and clinical education Provides routine follow-up support to customers at end-user locations as needed Conducts regional training for contractual nursing support as needed Works with Clinical Manager (CM) and Regional Business Manager (RBM) to ensure scheduling and activities produce the greatest return on investment Conducts VAM assessments supporting Vascular Care and Vascular Access sales bags People/Process: Assists sales personnel by building strong working relationships with end-users during product in-servicing and clinical education programs Works in concert with the Regional Team to ensure the sales and conversion management process is clinically effective throughout the timeline of pre-validation to retention Establishes excellent rapport with Territory Managers (TM) across both selling bags, RBM and CM, and works collaboratively with Region Collaborates with the Sales Team in key account management strategy sessions Provides clinical support, training and education for the Regional Team members as needed Shares standard methodologies with the Business, TMs, Associate Territory Managers (ATM), RBMs, Strategic Customer Group, Area VPs and their counterparts as they continue to enhance MDS programs and processes Provides training activities that help increase the clinical competence for new hires as well as tenured TMs Leads the On-Call Specialist (OCS) schedule to include coordination of team meetings for consistency of message and briefing of issues Has responsibility for managing the Regional Team of per diem nurses at the account level to ensure the provision of the highest level of training to our customers Trains and mentors contract nursing staff to consistently help build their clinical competence, while identifying high potential nurses within this group to be considered for the role of Clinical Specialist Works primarily in a geographically defined territory, however, based on account clinical needs, could assist outside of the region Position Requirements: Registered Nurse with a BSN/Bachelors of Science in Nursing Ultrasound guided vascular access device placement experience required Strong communicator with effective verbal and written skills Validated training skills to conduct educational courses Persuasive and credible, able to influence without authority Deals well with ambiguity Possesses strong understanding and knowledge of infusion therapy, vascular access, and key disease states served by MDS products Collaborates with customers and internal staff to develop clinical materials as needed Follows corporate and divisional regulatory policies and approval metrics when creating educational material Assists with training and orientation of new staff Travels as needed to conduct initial and ongoing training to maintain accounts in designated region and as assigned Communicates expertly by telephone, email, and on-site with internal and external customers Collaborates with business units through the CM to develop and revise marketing materials Interacts with customer committees as requested (i.e. product safety, infection control, policy committees) Reports complaints regarding the company’s products and services per BD policy Works in a safety-conscious manner ensuring that safe work practices are used Align with company policies and procedures Adheres to policy on drug-free workplace Maintains confidential information including proprietary information Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license and meets BD’s auto safety standards Job Qualifications and Proficiencies: Maintains license as a registered nurse in good standing with the Board of Nursing Five (5) years of general clinical experience preferred, including three (3) year’s experience with nursing related to an MDS product CRNI or VA-BC certification recommended Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, incumbent must have and maintain a valid driver’s license Employs a strong work ethic Works independently, with minimal mentorship and supervisio Relates effectively to all levels of associates both internally and externally Participates in clinical organizations, regionally and nationally Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making ability Exhibits ability to present to customers and internal staff clearly and effectively applying adult learning principles Strong documentation and organization skills Possesses basic digital literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.
