We use relevant pharmacodynamic biomarkers to evaluate target engagement and mechanism of action of candidate therapies as well as prognostic and predictive biomarkers to guide patient selection and personalized healthcare strategies. Biomarker scientists within our department are responsible for developing biomarker strategies, designing and implementing biomarker assays, and interpreting biomarker results. Additionally, we conduct foundational clinical translational research to study the molecular and cellular pathways driving disease to generate novel target and biomarker approaches. Collaborating closely with internal partners, including Research, Bioanalytical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Preclinical and Clinical Pharmacology, Biostatistics, Regulatory, and Bioinformatics, as well as with external partners. Writing biomarker sections of clinical and non-clinical protocols, reports, and regulatory filings, publishing results in high quality journals, and presenting at external conferences. Who you are: We are looking for an individual who would be passionate about using their understanding of disease biology to make impactful contributions to clinical drug development. Success in these responsibilities will require: PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Endocrinology, Cell Biology, Physiology, or related fields with 6 years post-doctoral, fellowship or industry experience and prior experience with translational research and/or clinical trials for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (e.g. obesity, MASH, diabetes). Experience in, and deep technical understanding of, preclinical and clinical sample collection/processing and cellular/molecular lab techniques such as cell culture, primary cell isolation from tissues, immunostaining, molecular biology, ELISA, western blot, flow cytometry, genomic sequencing, qRT-PCR, and/or transcriptomics is required. Must demonstrate a high level of independence with ability to develop hypotheses, direct lab scientists, develop analysis plans, interpret and present results. Preferred candidates will have prior biostatistics or bioinformatics experience (omics, pathway, network analysis, etc.) with programming skills in Python or R. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by publications, external presentations, and drug development reports, are required, along with extensive experience in leading R&D teams and fostering internal collaborations and partnerships with academic universities.
