The Race and Equity Champion Program Specialist - WOC position will lead the Behavioral Health Resource Center (BHRC) equity work, primarily managing the program's implementation of a racial equity lens. This position will work closely with the BHRC Program Manager and the BHRC contracted providers to ensure racial equity and support minor equity projects with the Community Mental Health Program, the unit where the BHRC lives. ***This is a work out of class (WOC) position/assignment that will last up to six (6) months, but may end sooner.*** As the Race and Equity Champion Program Specialist - WOC, other duties will include: Diversity Equity and Inclusion Program Planning Assist with equity analytics, including tracking metrics, generating equity reports to show trends, and communicate impact across BHRC programs and initiatives. Support senior management in evaluating, monitoring, and analyzing current program and service trends. Advise management on best practices, trends, challenges, risks, and opportunities regarding racial equity and inclusion matters. Provide recommendations for ongoing improvement, culture change, and support of an inclusive program and outcomes based on data evaluation, research and community feedback. Organizational Change and Support Serve as an internal consultant and facilitation expert to the Behavioral Health Department (BHD) employees and leadership by providing research, best practices, and management applications to facilitate discussion and improve BHRC business and program practices, particularly in the areas of equity-informed decision-making, equity and empowerment frameworks, intercultural competence, change management, managing difficult conversations, and innovative leadership. Implement process improvement solutions. Support executive leadership in providing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) expertise for issues related to organizational change, process improvement, and policy development, or issues involving a broad scope and significant impact on contracted provider staff and program participants. Review, analyze, and translate results into strategic DEI recommendations for the BHRC leadership. Project Management Project manage the implementation of a racial equity lens including research and implementation of a racial equity lens, promotion and professional development. Inform decision-making across BHD and assist to incorporate values into program development and design. This position will also support executive leadership with racial equity analysis for organizational change, process improvement, and issues impacting contracted employees and participants accessing services. Training and Information Sessions Lead sessions designed to not only share key findings but also to gather insights and recommendations from staff at all levels to foster an inclusive and effective approach to advancing racial equity within CMHP. Provide presentations of survey results related to each survey focus, highlight preliminary recommendations, and invite open dialogue to explore diverse perspectives. Guide the learning to ensure that the interpretation of these results and the ensuing action plans are shaped by the voices of those surveyed, thereby enhancing inclusivity and reducing barriers. Minimum Qualifications (REQUIRED): Education/Training: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 5-8 years of qualifying training and/or experience). Other: This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted. Knowledge of issues faced by those who experience behavioral health challenges and a basic understanding of the full continuum of care for those in need of services. Lead with race through actions and advocacy with internal programs, with community partners and across departments throughout the county. Demonstrate the ability to flex style when faced with myriad dimensions of culture in order to be effective across cultural context. Respect and appreciation for ethnic and cultural diversity. Ability to collaborate and build relationships to achieve positive work outcomes. Ability to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
