Job SummaryThe Quality Leader is a pivotal leader in our plant start-up, responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive quality systems, checks, and documentation. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Additionally, the Quality Manager is responsible for training the team on quality processes and driving a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Job Responsibilities
  • Quality System Development: Design and implement a robust quality management system, including procedures, standards, and protocols, to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company objectives.
  • Quality Checks and Controls: Establish quality checks at various stages of the manufacturing process to maintain product quality and consistency. Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures to prevent defects and optimize processes.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Develop and maintain detailed quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records. Ensure all documentation is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
  • Training and Development: Lead the training and development of the team on quality systems, checks, and processes. Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to ensure understanding and adherence to quality standards.
  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, certifications, and quality standards. Prepare for and participate in audits, addressing any identified non-conformities and driving improvements.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to establish and maintain supplier quality requirements, audits, and ongoing performance evaluations.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into product quality issues, customer complaints, and nonconformities, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring key quality metrics, analyzing trends, and initiating improvement projects to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure a cross-functional approach to quality management and product development.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Collaborate with health and safety teams to ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols in line with quality objectives.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and develop a team effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for product quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Quality Assurance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (5 years) as a Quality Manager in the food manufacturing industry, with a track record of developing and implementing effective quality systems.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in leading audits and managing compliance with various certifications (e.g., GMP, HACCP, SQF).
Work Environment
  • Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station
  • Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
