Work/Life balance to love what you do and where you live. What's Available: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) Shift: Days 7:30AM– 4:00PM, will be rotated on-call between the 3 PAS. (on-call after their shift ends during week thru night until 7:30AM and 24 hours on weekends) When on-call, will need to be no more than 1 hour away incase need to come troubleshoot Pyxis in-person. Department: Hospital Pharmacy (outside of Central Pharmacy) Location: La Crosse, WI Schedule Example: 7:30AM - 4:00PM, Monday – Friday Windows Patching schedules could be working evenings hours 2:00PM - 10:30PM. Rotate through on-call once trained ~ this could take up to 6-12 months before on-call begins Different Pyxis implementation could mean being flexible with working hours as this could require traveling to different affiliate sites. What you will do: Provide LOVE MEDICINE to our patients through providing the best first/last impressions with top-level customer service. Partner with a team of providers, medical professionals, and managers who are here to support your success and that of our patients in their health journeys. What you need: High School Diploma or equivalency and completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or equivalent pharmacy technician experience 2 years of related healthcare experience in a general support or service area, requiring basic pharmacy knowledge and skills. Job Description: Working under the supervision of the Hospital Pharmacy Clinical Manager and/or a next level leader, the Pharmacy Automation Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of automated medication dispensing throughout the hospital and assists with safe, effective, and efficient use of this equipment. Provides user support, performs maintenance activities and troubleshooting, and monitors proper functionality and use of the system. Working with Information Systems and the Project Manager, coordinates the installation of new units or the expansion of the systems with the appropriate departments. Responsible for management of overall inventory control in the machines, and completes related work as required. Major Responsibilities: 1. Provides daily operational and hardware support. Reviews and modifies daily routine as needed to ensure appropriate support of system, workflow and project tasks. 2. Troubleshoots the system as issues arise and works with the correct individuals to resolve as soon as possible. 3. Works with the Pharmacy Project Manager, Clinical Informaticist, or Pharmacy Leadership team to coordinate and complete new builds, installations and expansions of equipment. 4. Works with the Clinical Informaticist to coordinate, communicate, and successfully complete all system updates and the installation of new hardware and software. 5. Performs physical inspection of stations and ensures necessary maintenance and repairs are completed. 6. Completes barcode maintenance for the automated medication devices. 7. Reviews and analyzes various reports to make inventory control decisions that support optimization and appropriate inventory levels of medication in all automated dispensing machines. 8. Completes ongoing assessments of hardware to ensure appropriateness of all equipment. 9. Establishes the training needs for each user group to effectively use the system and completes training materials to complete, or facilitate, the training of new staff and/or re-educates existing staff in all user groups, including, but not limited to, Pharmacy, Anesthesia, Nursing, Medication Assistance and Respiratory Therapists. 10. Provides support for the automated medication devices located at regional locations as directed by Pharmacy leadership. 11. Reviews medication use to ensure appropriate inventory levels and inclusion. Works with Medication Safety Office to ensure LASA guidelines and override guidelines are followed. 12. Monitors medication outdates regularly; working with pharmacy technician staff to ensure stock is removed and rotated as appropriate. 13. Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required. 14. Ability to modify daily routine as needed, work sporadic hours and be on-call as required and/or needed. Education and Learning: REQUIRED High School Diploma or equivalency and completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or equivalent pharmacy technician experience Work Experience: REQUIRED 2 years of related healthcare experience in a general support or service area, requiring basic pharmacy knowledge and skills. DESIRED 3-4 years of hospital pharmacy experience and demonstrated proficiency in defined Hospital Pharmacy Technician centralized and de-centralized workflow. License and Certifications: REQUIRED Must be registered with the Wisconsin Dept. of Safety & Professional Services (WIRPHT) Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPHT) Registered with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy (MNRPHT) within 3 months of hire Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy (IARPHT) within 3 months of hire Age Specific Population Served: Nonage Specific (N/A) OSHA Category: Category II - Some (but not all) employees in this job title may have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials, usually by location or specific departments.
