Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal policies and procedures
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, complex account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Develop reports for management
- Prepare and review audit requests
- Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Prepare and file various tax returns, including sales tax, use tax, and property tax
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, including trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, auditors, and vendors
- Train, develop and manage 2 accounting team members
- Partner and keep clear lines of communication with other departments
- Manage ad-hoc projects and communicate with senior management team on progress toward deliverables
- Identify process improvements and implement
- Understand and comply with company policy, laws, and regulations, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhering to internal procedures and controls; reporting any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and reporting any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with accounting software, preferably Loan Vision or similar platforms
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent time management and organization
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent quality work
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Background Checks: This position will require a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed
- A minimum of 5 years working in accounting for an organization
- Mortgage industry experience is a strong plus
- Five years of experience working with computer spreadsheets and word processing software
