Pay rate: $17/hr on w2
Location: Norfolk, VA 23510
Shift timings: Monday-Friday 8 AM – 5 PM.
BG/DT required: YesJob Description:
- Skills required electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, heating.
- Performs routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements on public housing units and buildings to ensure safe operations of properties.
- Processes work order documentation.
- Performs routine grounds, structural, plumbing, appliance, and electrical maintenance.
- Performs routine painting assignments.
- Prepares housing unit for new tenants.
- Assists property management in resident evictions.
- Assists to assure the department community standards are upheld.
- Processes work order documentation: receives and prioritizes daily work orders according to standard shop practices; returns work order following completion of assignment; may schedule next day's work activities based on incomplete work.
- Performs routine ground maintenance: removes litter and debris from lawns, sidewalks, and streets; mows and removes grass and trims hedges.
- Performs minor structural preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements on housing units: performs minor wall repairs; window repairs or replacements; floor repairs or replacements; door repairs or replacements; door hardware installations, repairs, and replacements; window and door (storm, screen and entrance) repairs or replacements; and ceiling repairs.
- Performs routine paint preparation and painting assignments: may patch, caulk, sand, and mask areas to be painted; and paints areas.
- Performs minor plumbing preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements: performs minor plumbing fixture maintenance, repair, or replacement, such as installing fixtures, repairing water heater, replacing valves, clearing drains, minor faucet repairs, and minor toilet repairs.
- Performs minor appliance preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements: performs minor stove and oven repairs, such as replacing gas stove regulators and control knobs, and replacing and repairing elements; performs minor refrigerator repairs, such as cleaning refrigerators, clearing drains, and replacing parts.
- High school education with a vocational education program in building maintenance.
- One to two years of progressively responsible experience in residential building maintenance.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience necessary to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Current and valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
