Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Prefer background in Math/Mechanics. Mechanical aptitude and prior machine operator experience required.
SummaryOperates solvent adhesive coating machine and auxiliary equipment in a safe manner to coat coils of paper, film, or foil with pressure sensitive adhesive by performing the duties listed below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Set-up coater for each operation.
Responsible for start-up and shutdown of the machine.
Mixes adhesives or coating solution to specified viscosity and starts equipment to pump mixture into machine reservoir.
Places rolls of face paper and the backing substrate on shafts and positions correctly on the machine.
Turns control dials of machines to regulate the speed of substrates, temperature of drying ovens, and flow of adhesive.
Monitors ovens and thermal oxidizer units for safe operation.
Operate coater at maximum speed for each product.
Check pre-production (set-up) samples for correct pattern materials, web dimensions, etc.
Check materials pre, in process and post production using calipers and rulers.
Provide test samples, as required, to Quality Assurance.
Halt production if found to be running out of specification.
Maintain accurate, neat machine reports.
Accurately label rolls for shipment, inventory or next process in line.
Report material problems to Supervisor and Quality Assurance.
Recommend improvements to process and equipment.
Maintain improvements to process and equipment.
Resolve minor problems with equipment and process.
Report major problems to Supervisor and assist in resolving.
Must be able to operate forklift and clamp truck.
Must be able to work with little supervision.
Wear appropriate PPE in posted areas.
Maintain neat, orderly work area including hazardous materials storage areas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of bar coding software, label printing software and the ability to enter data via keyboarding and/or by using scanning guns.
