Salary: $17.00 - $18.50 per/hour

360 Community Services Education Program is a Level III contract service that provides a safe, supportive, and engaging educational environment to special needs students. We encourage our students to achieve their individualized goals while becoming productive citizens through community activities. Our dedicated staff are committed to using a variety of innovative and creative strategies to engage students while encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning, behavior and goals. 360 Community Services is commitment to helping every student experience individualized success. We are a program designed for kindergarten through young adult transition students and we partner with the home school districts, parents, guardians, and community agencies to assist students in reaching their personal, academic, and social goals. Our instruction is focused on building academic skills, as well as, helping students build self-management, life skills, and social skills. At 360 Community Services we believe learning should be engaging and fun while tailored to each individuals needs. The 360 Community Services staff are trained to provide a strong emphasis on leadership, self-advocacy, and life skills.

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the paraprofessional will work with students with behavioral or developmental disabilities needs by providing academic and behavioral support in the classroom. At 360 Community Services, staff assume the professional responsibility of providing supervision of students in a safe, supportive and positive classroom climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to ensure individualized programs are being followed and process towards IEP goals are met.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Special Education Director and Coordinator to plan, organize, and implement specific assignments and activities in accordance with IEP goals and providing and/or modifying instruction/curriculum.
  • Follows daily schedule and school procedures, as well as implements student programming, as directed.
  • Monitors student behavior, intervening when appropriate and supporting the student while working individually or in small groups.
  • Implements and has the ability to perform approved de-escalation and physical intervention techniques as directed.
  • Ability to assist students in completion of a wide range of academic subjects including Functional Math (ex. counting money, telling time, etc.), Functional Reading (reading street signs, job ads, etc.), Daily Living, and Vocation Skills.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of activities, student progress, and behavior modification plans.
  • Interacts with all internal and external customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • The ability to be flexible, function as a team member, and take initiative when needed.
  • Maintain good interpersonal relations with peers and a wide variety of professional staff affiliated with program.
  • Must be able to transport students to community outings/field trips via company van or personal vehicle.
  • Participates in professional development/continuing education programs as required/recommended by the Special Education Director and/or Director of Training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Work Experience:

  • Prior employment experience working with children or young adults in a special education setting is preferred. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 20 years
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current vehicle Insurance upon request
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a State & Federal background check.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required (College degree in Education, Psychology, or Social Sciences preferred).
  • The following certifications are required -will provide training if necessary:
    • CPR/1st Aid
    • Medication Aide
    • Safe Crisis Management (SCM)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, lift and carry objects of varying size weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
