Job Summary:

The Buyer Planner oversees procurement and inventory planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective material availability. This role involves analyzing demand forecasts, managing inventory levels, and optimizing purchasing strategies in collaboration with suppliers. Crucially, the Buyer Planner supports operational efficiency and aligns with production or service delivery goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate inventory plans by analyzing sales forecasts, historical data, and demand signals.
  • Collaborate with production, operations, and sales teams to understand current and future material requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages or excesses, and implement corrective measures.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as price, quality, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contract terms, manage vendor relationships, and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Plan and execute purchase orders to ensure timely material delivery and minimize carrying costs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of procurement activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, enhance supplier reliability, and reduce material costs.
  • Provide management with regular reports and recommendations on inventory and purchasing performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain analysis roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting data for informed decision-making.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, adept at working cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain dynamics, and inventory management principles.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Just-in-Time (JIT) systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CPSM).
