About the Role

We are looking for a bright and ambitious 4 PQE lawyer to join our Legal and Compliance team reporting to the Head of Legal, Compliance and Secretariat. If you’re a financial services lawyer with corporate and commercial experience who is keen to assist with M&A activities – we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Providing advice on financial services legislation (including the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Insurance Contracts Act) relevant to general insurance and insurance distribution
  • Drafting and advising on disclosure documents (PDSs, policy wordings, FSGs), client letters, marketing collateral,
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts including supplier agreements, software agreements and outsourcing arrangements, NDAs, internal policies, distribution agreements, insurance binders, broker TOBAs, claims management agreements and other contracts
  • Providing the Compliance team with technical support where required on breach assessments, regulatory reporting and complaints management
  • Liaising with executives and broader business to deliver on strategic initiatives and provide legal support
  • Updating the business on relevant regulatory developments and supporting training and education to assist in the understanding of obligations.
  • Assisting with M&A activities
  • Assisting with Company Secretarial activities

Experience.

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 4 years PQE (mix of private practice and in-house experienced lawyers are encouraged to apply);
  • 4 years’ legal experience in financial services and corporate/commercial law
  • Experience with insurance intermediaries and distribution (preferred but not essential)
  • General commercial and corporate experience including some M&A experience
  • Demonstrated capability of engaging with and influencing a wide variety of stakeholders.
