Housing Life Skills Case Aide, Transitional Housing Program360 Youth Services seeks one full-time Life Skills Caseworkers for our Transitional Housing Programs serving youth experiencing homelessness, ages 18-24.
Position Summary:The Life Skills Caseworker will support housing clients in the development and maintenance of skills pertaining to basic care and maintenance of an apartment as well as other essential life skills such as budgeting and meal planning. Support case managers and the Educational / Vocational Coordinator to help clients meet financial, employment, education and interpersonal goals based on individual ability and needs. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Supportive Services Program Manager.
40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends may be required – some flexibility in scheduling may be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under the direct supervision of the Senior Program / Data Administration Manager, work as a member of a team including Case Managers and Housing Support Program Manager to create and provide service delivery to support the ultimate goal of moving Youth experiencing homelessness (18-24), to achieving self-sufficiency by improving life skills.
  • Collaborate with THP Educational/Vocational Coordinator for continuity of vocational and educational services.
  • Develop and support apartment maintenance and cleanliness procedures / hygiene skills for all clients to match their individual needs.
  • Support and build client efficacy / awareness in the areas of: health & nutrition, cooking & sanitation, and budget management.
  • Facilitate and/or plan weekly client centered group/life skill sessions dependent on the needs or preferences of clients. Creative groups such as art expression and meal preparation are encouraged.
  • Assist team to conduct Ansell Casey Life Skills assessment and develop individualized plans for each resident which are updated quarterly.
  • Research, network, and provide connections for residents to become engaged community members through social and volunteer opportunities.
  • Attend scheduled Program and All Staff meetings
  • May assist in daily Case notes and Case plan updates.
  • Assist with the maintenance of client records.
  • Meet weekly with Program Managers for one-on-one supervisory check-ins.
  • Assist with the collection of client activity schedules as needed.
  • Assist with occasional transportation needs of clients for medical, State, personal and other case management demands.
  • Commit to the values of positive youth development, housing first, harm reduction, transformative justice, anti-oppression and trauma informed care.
  • Regularly conduct client apartment checks independently or with case manager to ensure program standards are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Program Manager.
Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum Associates Degree in Human Services Field or related field, or 3 years of equivalent relatable work experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance as required by State of Illinois Law.
  • Commitment to providing affirming services for LGBTQ youth, racial justice and equity, youth experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrate a level of professionalism, professional boundaries and personal integrity to provide a positive and constructive role model for residents.
  • Experience working with youth a plus.
