Assistant Controller Responsibilities
- Year-End Audit Coordination: Assist in coordinating the year-end audit, including the review of schedules prepared by staff for financial audit purposes.
- Audit Reporting: Develop audit reports to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Draft financial statements for review by the Controller.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reviews of G/L account reconciliations for completeness.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure company tax compliance reports are accurately processed and submitted.
- Sales and Use Tax Filings: Oversee sales and use tax filings for multiple entities across various states, with a focus on the Southeastern US.
- Tax Law Research: Utilize strong research and analytical skills to understand state tax laws, nexus rules, business registration, and reporting requirements.
- Journal Entry Review: Review journal entries prepared by staff, provide feedback, and approve entries within the accounting system.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Experience: 5-7 years of related accounting experience.
- Accounting Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP principles and standards.
- Tax Regulations: Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
- Certification: CPA certification is highly desirable.
- Compensation: $90,000-120,000 annually, based on experience.
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including company-paid health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, company-paid life insurance, paid holidays, and competitive PTO.
- Work Schedule: Fully onsite, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
