The Lead Medical Assistant works closely with providers under their direct supervision to: manage the provider’s schedule to ensure efficient workflow, perform pre-visit planning based on patient visit type, room patients.Gathers and enters patient information into electronic medical records and identifies and carries our HEDIS and STARS quality measures.Takes vital signs, administers medication, performs diagnostic tests, collects specimens including phlebotomy, and maintains equipment and patient care areas.
Provides direction and guidance to other medical assistants to help drive quality patient care and outcomes and increase positive patient engagement.Working under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth and depth of knowledge, regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting and adapting procedures, processes, practices, and protocols.Embraces, participates in, provides recommendations, and leads in operational and clinical process initiatives and improvement activities.Helps facilitate the skills development of lower-level medical assistants and collaborates with center and clinical leadership to provide effective feedback in the overall assessment and performance of medical assistants.Embodies services standards for medical assistants across the region and leads departmental special projects as requested.

Language Proficiency Testing:
Bilingual English/Spanish. Must be able to speak, read and write in both languages without limitations or assistance. See Additional Information on testing. Any Humana associate who speaks with a member in a language other than English must take a language proficiency assessment, provided by an outside vendor, to ensure competency. Applicants will be required to take the Interagency Language Rating (ILR) test as provided by the Federal Government.
