Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery Manager - WOB Position Summary Witt O’Brien’s is seeking an Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery Manager to join our organization. The candidate will work in a dynamic team comprised of highly experienced consultants and highly engaged clients to meet fast-paced project requirements and may provide in-person support. The ideal candidate will have managed or led large scale projects or programs. Position Details Reports to: Associate Managing Director Position Location: Remote Position Type: Regular Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Pay: Salary Compensation: Commensurate with experience Essential Job Functions Serves as the direct interface with state/local client agency, as well as senior program staff. Assumes a leadership role in advising federal, state, and local government staff on opportunities for innovation, areas of risk and risk mitigation, and strategic direction. Provides clients with training, instruction, and conducts exercises to ensure client comprehension. Supports client agency leaders and senior program staff in briefing, reporting, and coordinating activities with third-party state and federal agencies supporting disaster recovery efforts. Provides leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborate work environment. Delegates tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring that team members are aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth and development. Monitor objectives and key results (OKR’s) to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Oversee day-to-day operations within the department, ensuring that processes and procedures are efficient and effective. Identify areas for process improvement. Serves as the liaison between the department and senior management. Collaborate with cross functional teams to achieve goals and objectives. Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members. Address performance issues in a timely and constructive manner, providing support and guidance as needed to help team members succeed. Oversees, plans, and coordinates project activities to ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved within specified timeframes and budget constraints. Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing programs. Exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of programs. Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects. Identifies potential issues and identifies principles and practices that further resiliency and sustainability in development of planning initiatives. Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. May manage sub-contractors, their workforce, and Project Supervisors/leaders assigned to specific projects in larger organizations. Leads analysis, development, implementation, and revisions of strategic plans and actionable products. Gives work direction and delegation, provides technical advice, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Ensures provision of high-quality service to all clients, acting as necessary to maintain the firm’s high reputation for superior client services. Ensures all laws, rules, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are met. Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objective and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others. Manages and tracks complex project plans and controls, budgets, schedules, teams, and other resources. Achieves financial targets, utilization, profitability margins, and project budgets. Develops risk-mitigation strategies for project plans and controls. Maintains fluency by understanding and following the details of each contract, its scope, and any related requirements. Identifies chances for repeat Business Development (BD) work and shares these opportunities with the AMD and Practice Lead for awareness. May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge, or transfer. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum 8 years’ experience in the field of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field from an accredited college or university. As an alternative, two (2) years of experience working in assigned technical discipline may be substituted for one (1) years of education (i.e., eight (8) years of relevant work experience is equal to a Bachelor’s degree). Experience with business process reviews and improvements. Experience presenting information to an array of audiences. Strong analytical skills. Expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to analyze, summarize, and compile data and information. Ability to perform detail-oriented work. Proven ability to direct the work of staff from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets, and to manage a team to improve processes or systems. Excellent oral and written communication techniques, including in response to requests either internally or externally. Strong prioritization and time-management skills to balance ongoing responsibilities with urgent requests. Preferred Job Requirements Master’s degree in relevant field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
