The Deputy Director has responsibilities both to Louisiana Kids Matter Campaign, a 501(c)(3) organization, and its related 501(c)(4) organization, Louisiana Kids Matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocate: The Deputy Director will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and align with state and ecosystem partners to change state and school district-level policy through legislative and administrative action by crafting and executing the organization’s strategy and policy plans.
  • Local fundraising: The Deputy Director will assist the Executive Director with fundraising and raising awareness of building support for the campaign's long-term sustainability. This includes drafting proposals and attending donor pitches and meetings.
  • Manager and mentor: The Executive Director may delegate the deputy director the responsibility of managing staff and contracts. If so, the deputy director will work with the staff they manage to set annual individual goals.
  • Political strategist and relationship builder (501(c)(4) responsibilities): The Deputy Director will foster bipartisan political relationships, assist with the organization’s political and legislative goals and strategies, and manage related grassroots advocacy operations as needed.

Key skills, abilities and experience

The ideal candidate has strong local ties, legislative and/or electoral experience, and a commitment to ensure every child receives a high-quality education. They must be a team player. Additionally, they will demonstrate:

  • Ability to quickly adapt plans and goals to changing circumstances.

Local political and/or campaign experience (for 501(c)(4) responsibilities) (preferred)
