What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at 5TH AXIS INC?
- Project ownership from concept to production
- Create and manage prints for part, assembly, and BOMs
- Perform assembly level tolerance and stack-up analysis
- See projects to completion with a sense of urgency
- Make quick, educated decisions to overcome design and manufacturing issues
- Work as a team to solve complex design and manufacturing problems
- Freely communicate and bounce ideas off peers daily
- Build and verify designs in R&D phase
- Create testing and validation procedures for products in production phase
- Generate assembly instructions and assist in marketing product information
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of experience with precision tooling and mechanical design
- Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009 standards
- DFM, DFC, and DFA with a heavy focus in CNC milling and turning
- Proficiency solid modeling, SolidWorks strongly preferred
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Knowledge and use of granite top measurement tools
- Familiarity with basic hand tools
- Insight with the inner workings of a machine shop
