ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY:
The associate manager culinary & menu development position is responsible for the on-going culinary development process for the 7-Eleven restaurants platforms from ideation through commercialization. This person will provide support to multiple teams across all restaurant platforms at our corporate office with some field work in our restaurants and at our suppliers during business hours as well as after hours if needed.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Become an expert on 7-Eleven Restaurants menus and kitchen operations (LTC, Roost, Speedy Café, Ladson Grill, Parlor Pizza, Tedeschi Deli with over 900 sites and growing). Execute Product Development functions including but not limited to: Ideation of new menu items with recipe cost calculations and packaging Recipe development & testing including equipment, small wares, packaging, processes, shelf life, nutrition, regulatory and operational efficiency. Continuous improvement of existing recipes, menu items and processes. Documenting all recipes and specifications in 7-Eleven’s Supply & Ingredient database Sensory testing to optimize recipes and menus. Commercialize all ingredients and recipes with suppliers as well as in the restaurants. Participate in test market execution and evaluation. Facilitate team evaluations and presentations as a culinary/technical expert. Provide technical support and expertise to cross-functional teams. Track food trends through various menu trend publications, consumer insights, conferences and active benchmarking. Manage supplier relationships and sourcing new and alternative suppliers and food products
QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 8 years YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 4 years CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: Culinary Degree. Food Science Degree
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Strong Culinary and Product Development experience required - Restaurant Industry, Food Manufacturing (bonus) Strong Analytical/Troubleshooting Skills Excellent Oral and Written communication Solid computer skills and ability to learn new applications and systems Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure all projects are completed on time. Must demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment while fostering a partnership approach with internal teams and external suppliers. Ability/desire to work within a fast-paced environment Detail Oriented Customer-focused Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
