Mission

The Safety Coordinator for a large-scale utility solar project is responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel, compliance with regulations, and the implementation of best practices throughout the construction phase. This role requires a detailed understanding of both safety protocols and solar energy systems, ensuring a safe work environment and the successful completion of the project.

Responsibilities

Safety Program Development and Implementation:

• Develop, implement, and maintain the project’s safety program
• Create and enforce site-specific safety plans
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
• Ensure A-C Electric Company complies with general contractor and owner safety requirements

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations
• Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation
• Organize toolbox talks (safety bulletins) and ensure quality of daily task hazard analysis (THA)

Incident Management:

• Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of correction actions
• Periodic incident review to analyze data for trends and improvements

Site Inspections and Audits:

• Conduct regular safety inspections of the site to identify potential hazards and recommend solutions
• Ensure all safety equipment is being inspected and in good working condition

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions
• Prepare and present safety reports to project management team
• Ensure all safety documentation is up-to-date and accessible

Physical and Other Requirements:

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
• Ability to work independently, possess strong communication skills, and influence behaviors

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, or
• Safety Certification (STSC, CHST, etc.) plus 2 years’ experience in Safety, or
• 4 years’ experience in Safety plus OSHA 30
• NFPA 70E Trained – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
• Solar Electrical experience is a Plus

Pay Range: $20.00 per hour to $50.00 per hour. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
