Description

SUMMARY

The Substance Use Recovery Supervisor will develop and implement substance use recovery programing for dually diagnosed adults living at ACOF's various permanent supportive housing apartments. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of substance use issues that may arise for individuals with a mental health diagnosis. The Substance Use Recovery Supervisor is responsible for the management, provision and coordination of safe, high quality addiction services, where sound judgement is required in resolving problems and making recommendations to other team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION
•Assess, design, and revise as needed the Substance Use Recovery Program in compliance with ACOF's policies and procedures
•Ensure that recovery care plans are followed by staff in compliance with ACOF's Services Department standards
•Manage the development, implementation, and assignment of Substance Use Recovery Specialist staffing at various ACOF properties
•Lead team meetings and supervision
•Provide substance use related trainings to Services staff
•Continually update own and staff knowledge of laws, rules and standards related to substance use inpatient/outpatient, medical detox and local hospital substance use beds
•Prepares and submits reports as required by funding agencies to document outcomes and effectiveness of services
•Ensure the use of harm reduction and housing first principles
•Establish tenant driven recovery activities and groups within ACOF buildings
DIRECT SERVICES
•Assist tenants in linking with resources in the community, primarily recovery services and activities aimed at increasing the tenant's knowledge of community resources and ability to use those resources
•Assess tenant's mental health, substance use and independent living needs by collecting a pre-assessment survey from tenants who are referred by case managers
•Work in cooperation with co-workers, Assistant Director of Services, Tenant Services Supervisors, Case Managers and Property Managers in case consultation and recovery options for tenants
•Network and maintain a service provider referral network for tenants that entails identifying and establishing effective relationships with agencies that provide recovery and treatment services
•Provides crisis response and management, as necessary
•Help resolve tenant issues and disputes
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
•This position will supervisor three (3) Substance Use Recovery Specialist staff members.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
•BA in Social Services field preferred
•Three (3) years professional experience working with adults with disabilities within a residential setting providing substance use counseling
•Certified as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor from an accredited CA Substance Use organization CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP
•Two (2) years' supervisorial experience in the social service field
•Valid California driver's license
•Prior use of the HMIS/CHAMP or substance use related database/documentation system
•Familiar with Harm Reduction and Housing First principles
•Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving skills
•Ability to work with diverse tenant populations to promote independent living skills
•Interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with staff and tenants
•Knowledge of public benefit & social service systems
•Proficiency with Microsoft software programs
