We are seeking qualified candidates for a Dispatcher. This opening is available at the Millsboro, DE location. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week minimum).
Job Title: Dispatcher
Job Summary
The Dispatcher schedules and dispatches drivers, workers, equipment, and service vehicles, and monitors all related activities. Ensuring exceptional communications and coordination while providing a global outlook for all transportation needs of the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Directly supervises all CDL drivers (dump truck, tractor-trailer, fuel truck, etc.).
· Schedules and coordinates drivers to pick up and deliver equipment and materials for jobsites.
· Monitors the routes and status of service/delivery vehicles to coordinate and prioritize their schedules.
· Provides service/delivery vehicles with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements.
· Compiles all truck driver-related paperwork including DVIR’s, fuel reports, tickets, road-side inspections, etc.
· Enters data in the system and maintains logs and records of activities and other DOT related information.
· Works with Service Foremen, Lead Mechanics, Service Coordinator, Transportation Manager and Director of Fleet Operations to communicate truck repair and maintenance requests.
· Manage/dispatch all fuel trucks to ensure equipment is fueled and fuel truck drivers operate efficiently.
· Obtain all trucking permits in a timely manner.
· Regularly meet with truck drivers to communicate safety concerns/awareness.
· Manage all company owned vehicle keys.
· Ensure fuel supply is appropriate and coordinate fuel deliveries to the shop.
· Reviews and approves driver time sheets for submission to Transportation Manager daily.
· Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times especially surrounding sensitive conversations around and regarding employees as well as shared information with leadership.
· Ability to act with integrity and professionalism.
· Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
· Regularly performs walk-around inspections of trucks, trailers, and other vehicles to ensure regulatory compliance and vehicle cleanliness.
· Prioritizes truck utilization based on daily needs in coordination with DBE goals.
· Ensures the truck parking area is kept orderly and clean.
· Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned by the Transportation Manager and other senior managers.
· Performs other assignments as required.
Qualifications
· High School degree or GED required.
· 1-3 years dispatch experience required.
· Driver’s license required.
· CDL preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Competent use of Microsoft Office suite applications: Word‚ Excel‚ PDF Editor or comparable.
· The job offers some flexibility for determining how to organize work activities which are periodically reviewed by Transportation Manager.
· Ability to make decisions on safe/unsafe working conditions and within company guidelines and standards.
· Flexibility with work hours surrounding business needs and unexpected scenarios that may require the need to stay until a resolution has been reached.
Working Conditions
· Involves work for heavy civil construction company where duties can potentially be performed in both indoor/outdoor/daytime/nighttime working conditions. Employee can be exposed to equipment/vehicle hazards, heights/subsurface levels, dust/fumes, chemicals, confined spaces, traffic hazards, loud noise levels and outside weather conditions related to Mid-Atlantic region.
· Fit for duty including physical requirements of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, verbally communicating, hearing, sitting and occasionally lifting/moving approximately 75 pounds.
· Must be able to travel on occasion as needed.
